Frequently Asked Questions

Have Questions About Our Counseling Services at Mindset Counseling Center?

How long until I can schedule an appointment?

Depends on your availability. If you are able to come during the day, you are more likely to get in quicker due to the late afternoon and evening spots going quickly. Waitlists do move, you can always get on a waitlist for a consistent appointment or you can go on a weekly waitlist on a needed basis.

Do you take insurance or what is the cost?

We do not accept any insurance. Some insurance policies provide partial reimbursement or put the cost of sessions towards your deductible. This varies depending on your insurance. It is always worth a call to ask them. We do provide clients with a superbill that will provide the coding for you to submit on your own to insurance. We do accept HSA cards.

Do you tell my parents everything we talk about?

For anyone under the age of 18, parents have a right to know what is discussed. We ask that parents allow some confidentiality for their child to develop a therapeutic alliance with our counselors. We work with parents to check on how things are going at home and discuss areas of progress and concerns they might have. If concerning behaviors and or feelings arise in therapy, and the parents need to be brought in due to such things as a safety concern, it is always done as a team to maintain safety and the therapeutic alliance.

How long is the appointment?

Typically they are 50-55 minutes. We do offer longer sessions by request. Extended sessions do cost more.

Do you prescribe medication?

We do not offer medication services. We will refer you to contact your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist for medication and medication management.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy varies based on every individual’s needs. We always recommend beginning with weekly sessions and work toward a bi-weekly schedule. We also have monthly maintenance sessions. The work applied during sessions and outside of our sessions will impact the progress that is made.

If I am feeling suicidal will you hospitalize me?

Confidentiality will always be broken for plans and intent of self-harm, harm to others, or someone is harming you.
