Family Counseling

Family Counseling can help work on the issues your family may be experiencing now can go a long way to building stronger bonds for the future

About Our Family Therapy

Do you feel like your family is running on autopilot? Carpooling from one practice to another. Grabbing meals in the car. One parent and child going one way and the other half going another.

We get it. The demands on families today are greater than ever before. Have your children in sports or activities. Attending school functions. Both parents are juggling work and the familyโ€™s busy schedule. It can seem like you never have true quality time together anymore. And before you know it, the kids are grown and off on their own and you wonder how it could have possibly gone so fast.

The need for connection is more important than before. Especially in family units today. Splitting time between social media, friendships, schoolwork, and extracurricular activities can leave little time to truly get to know each other in the home.

Family Counseling Can Help.

Our family counseling services are here to allow your family to improve communication, create a more collaborative environment, and improve the functionality of your household.

Whether we think we do or not, individuals can often pass the stress they feel onto loved ones in the form of anger, resentment, distance, sadness, and withdrawal. Helping to repair the lines of communication in the family unit can rebuild the steps that were once broken, so that everyone feels seen and heard, and most importantly, loved in the family.

Working on the issues your family may be experiencing now can go a long way to building a stronger bond for the future.

When Should You Seek Family Counseling?

Family counseling can be beneficial for every family to improve communication and strengthen bonds, but here are some other times when counseling should become part of your family.

1. Divorce Or Separation

Whether the divorce or separation is amicable or contentious; if you have children, family counseling should be part of the process. While you and your partner may be handling the divorce smoothly, it may be affecting your children more than you know. Having a safe space where your children can share their emotions will open the doors to a healthier outcome and avoid discord down the road.

2. Substance Abuse

When a parent or child suffers from addiction, the whole family suffers with them. Overcoming addiction is a challenging road, and more important than ever to have all members of the family communicating effectively to get through it. โ€œIt takes a villageโ€ is an old saying that is the rock-hard truth when it comes to a family coping with substance abuse. And while Mindset Counseling Center cannot offer recovery services, we are here to help rebuild a healthy mindset, and guide you and your family as you repair the broken bonds and move forward – together.

3. Loss in the Family

It is said that the only certainty in life is that death is inevitable. A loss in a family can be an unbearable burden, especially if the loss comes unexpectedly or much too soon. We welcome your family to share your grief, share your feelings, and pain so that, together, you can support each other as you continue on. Death is never easy, but with the right support, your family can find a healthy path to acceptance and walk the next chapter together.

4. Chronic Illness or Disability

The introduction of a chronic illness or disability into a family is one that can test patience and stamina and cause increased financial and mental anguish.ย  I donโ€™t believe anyone can be prepared for the toll it can take on a family, but instilling coping mechanisms can work wonders to alleviate pressure and allow for the mind to recoup and grow stronger.ย  Much like with an addiction; chronic illness and or disabilities affect all members of the family and can extend far beyond the household.ย  Whether you need individual support or assistance as a group, Mindset Counseling Center is here to help
